South serengeti

ABOUT

Kirurumu Serengeti South Camp is a luxury mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a days adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent.

LOCATION : According to season!

We are not permanent and use our seasonality and possible changing camp locations within a general area as being the most strategic given that the migration is is unpredictable but always reachable from our camps. Generally we avoid the most congested areas and use our superior knowledge and many years of experience to be located in ares that are less busy but excellent for wildlife.

The camp moves to the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes in June . Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino project and also by virtue of permanent water in the area boasts a large population of Lion with densities approaching the Seronera area but unlike Seronera the area is not congested and it is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful and is the reason the Lion population is high. The migration may or may not move through the area in June and the pattern of the migration is very difficult to determine in advance being subject to weather patterns and availability of water for the large herds.

From late December to the end of March the camp moves to the Ndutu area of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ndutu 2 campsite area offers access to the Serengeti short grass plains for the great migration and specifically when the wildebeests are carving around mid February to early March. The lakes over essential water which brings the game in from the surrounding plains for excellent wildlife viewing. The area is also very good for lion, cheetah, and excellent plains game along with the migration.

FROM OUR GUESTS

The food served was healthy and freshly cooked and was delicious. Difficult to believe in the middle of nowhere the food could be so tasty!! We had to g to the Serengeti for our first Safari as we felt this is one of the few wild places left in the world and it exceeded our expectations. If you are after a very personal and true wild safari with rustic luxury tented accommodation, then this is the place for you. We certainly will never forget our experience here. Thank you also to our game drivers Clemence and Jackson, both of whom were very knowledgable, funny and staggeringly good at spotting animals that we would never have even noticed. Thank you once again to Godwin and all the staff for helping us realise a dream of ours and we would love to return again someday

"There is even laundry service. A gentleman hand washes your clothes and returns them pressed and folded in the evening the same day.The camp uses solar panels so there is plenty of lights in the tents and power in the dining tent for charging electronics. There is NO internet. Enjoy the company of others and the sounds of the Serengeti The last night we were the only 2 guest, the others left the day before, we had a wonderful evening talking, laughing and just visiting with the staff."

"I spent 3 nights at the Ndutu camp this february. With my brother, mother and her husband. The location is breathtaking, the tents and beautiful and very comfortable.Hearing the animals around the tent at night was an incredible experience and thanks to the great staff I felt safe at all times. The staff are very caring, charming and wonderful people. I had good conversations, many laughs and learned one or two things about the secrets of the Serengeti. The food was delicious and everything was organized really good. I wish I wouldn't have had to leave."
