CENTRAL serengeti
ABOUT
Kirurumu Serengeti Central Camp is a lovely mobile camp, moved seasonally to take best advantage of the vast Serengeti. The camp is used as a base, a spring board for an early morning game drive, a break for a sumptuous lunch, a respite from the heat of the day and the finale to a days adventure where stories can be swapped around a fire. As a small and intimate camp the staff are on hand just to look after a very limited number of guests and so the level of attention and service is always excellent.

LOCATION : According to season!
​
The camp moves around the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes in June. Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino project and also by virtue of permanent water in the area boasts a large population of Lion, the area is not congested and it is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful and is the reason the Lion population is high. The migration may or may not move through the area in June and the pattern of the migration is very difficult to determine in advance being subject to weather patterns and availability of water for the large herds.

We are not permanent and use our seasonality and possible changing camp locations within a general area as being the most strategic given that the migration is is unpredictable but always reachable from our camps. Generally we avoid the most congested areas and use our superior knowledge and many years of experience to be located in ares that are less busy but excellent for wildlife.

FROM OUR GUESTS
Stayed here for four days at end of medical mission work. Great trip logistics with direct flight from Dar. Camp is a bit off the beaten path, but it is worth it. Every evening, both hillsides west and East were covered with wildebeest and zebra, and every morning, beautiful sunrise and animals on the move. Tents very comfortable, with good beds and mosquito nets (they were problem in Dar and occasionally in the Serengeti. ) food excellent with good variety. Breakfast to order. We have stayed in many camps and this one near the top.
ACTIVITES

The Serengeti camp is your springboard into the Serengeti, essential for the migration and seasonally well located to take advantage of activities such as hot air ballooning (note that access to hot air ballooning is seasonal as the balloon rides start in central Serengeti). The Serengeti is the place to game drive and has the largest concentration of wildlife in the world. The following activites are all possible :

The Great Migration
Masses of calves born at the same time, while large cats teach their young to hunt. Survival of the fittest before your very eyes. Spectacular
Hot Air Balloon
Although we advise against this activity due to the disturbance of wildlife, it is available
Bush Lunch​

Enjoy your afternoon full course lunch under acacia trees and on the native kopjes home to many lion prides. An unforgettable experience.

"We stayed here for 3 nights and were treated very special by Godwin and his team. We really felt at home the moment we arrived. What a warm welcome by the complete team. Every night bush tv, nice prepared dinner (no buffet!) under the stars and the fire place. Wake-up call with hot coffee & cookies. And again a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, pancakes and eggs on demand. When we left after 3 days the whole team was dancing & singing is good bye!! The camp is well situated for visiting north Serengeti & Crossings. If you have a budget for something special then absolutely take the balloon safari in this area."
